Kinahan noted that during the building of Adare Manor all the red beds in this quarry were extracted, but that subsequently some of the remaining lower grey limestones reddened over time. This was first recognised by George Fosberry Junior, Esq. Weak breccia texture, variegated, wackestone, calcite veining, crinoidal debris. Capable of receiving a polish.
