Situated immediately on the western side of the Great Northern Railway (Dublin-Belfast) line at Goragh Wood Railway Station, north of Newry. Granite largely used by the railway company for ballast and chippings for holding lines in place. On the 1905 map the quarry is relatively small but developed northwards into larger opening.References
