Dolomitised argillaceous limestones. The creamy dolomytes are associated with the ordinary limesones of the county. They were generally ignored by the builders of the ninteenth century, but they are good durable stones. This stone, along with sandstone, was used in the base and the jambs of the doorway of the Round Tower of St. Canice in Kilkenny (ninth century) and has remained intact.
