Notes:

In the western part of the Dingle Peninsula 400 million years ago coarse red and purple latest Silurian to early Devonian sandstones were laid down in river systems and these thick units now comprise a package termed the "Dingle Beds'. They are unconformably overlain by the Upper Old Red Sandstone.
