A fine grained quartzite that forms crags on the northeast side of the Howth Peninsula. These comprise large slabs (called olistostromes) that detatched and slid downslope during Cambrian and pos-Cambrian tectonic activity and now this unit lies alongside a slaty, schistose succession. A series of quarrys were opened, and the scars of these can still be seen.
