Notes:
A black to dark grey fine grained sandstone often containing the trace fossil Olivellites. These were described and figured in a Geological Survey of Ireland Memoir by William Hellier Baily (1859, p. 14, fig. 3 and 16, fig. 4) and by Samuel Haughton (1858, p. 87, 184–185, plates 8–11). [Haughton's specimens are in the Geological Museum, Trinity]. Very similar to Liscannor Flagstone and the Carlow flagstones from Kellymount and Shankill, Co. Kilkenny; they were marketed under the name 'Carlow Flags' (Kinahan in Jukes et al. 1859, p. 26).References
